December 31, 2004
With the start of 2005, UNITY now falls into the hands of a new team of leaders with a commitment to move forward the alliance to new heights. As the past president, I thank every member of the UNITY alliance -- numbering almost 10,000 now and still growing -- for a banner year. Looking back, every one should stand proudly behind great achievements, including staging of the biggest and strongest journalism convention ever. Under the direction of board president Mae Cheng, UNITY is poised to take on new challenges, continue with old ones and grow stronger. She will need plenty of help in what remains a huge fight to bring equality to coverage of our people. That's where everyone in this alliance comes in. I'll stand behind her, and hope you will also. I thank you for allowing me to serve.
