UNITY 2004 Convention Extends Pre-Registration Deadline to July 1

ARLINGTON , VA. -- UNITY: Journalists of Color Inc., today announced a two-week extension of the pre-registration deadline for its UNITY 2004 convention in Washington Aug. 4-8.

The extension will allow association members to register at discounted rates until July 1. Specifically, members may register via the UNITY website until midnight July 1. Fax registrations will be accepted until 5pm on July 1. Registrations via U. S. mail with a July 1 postmark will also be accepted.

Membership discount rates will be available until July 1 to attendees who are also members of the UNITY alliance associations as of July 1.

Registrations after July 1 will be accepted at the on-site rate of $700.

"UNITY 2004: A Powerful Alliance; A Force for Change" is being held by UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc. – an alliance representing the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA). The gathering is expected to attract more than 7,000 journalists of color to the Washington Convention Center .

UNITY 2004's media and career expo will be the largest in the news industry. With more than 300 booths, the expo will provide opportunities for media organizations, non-media organizations, non-profits, and government agencies a forum to interact and to recruit many of the nation's most respected journalists. The expo will also showcase training opportunities in the career resource center, an authors' carousel and press conferences.

In addition to the expo, several thousand journalists, students, corporate representatives, and political and community leaders will participate in an impressive array of sessions, workshops and student programs.
