Highlights from the world's largest gathering
of journalists of color Aug. 4-8 in Washington, D.C.

More than 8,000 journalists converged on the nation's capitol in the name of improving diversity in news. Here are highlights:

Barely 10 percent of the Washington newspaper press corps are journalists of color, according to a report by UNITY and University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
